Kathmandu Connection review: Amit Sial shines in this half-baked thriller

Sony Liv’s Kathmandu Connection finally premiered, and here is the full review of the show.

MUMBAI: After delivering some fine web shows like Scam 1992 and A Simple Murder, OTT platform Sony Liv is back with another show titled Kathmandu Connection, which focuses on the connection of the 1993 Bombay blasts with Nepal. It stars Amit Sial, Gopal Datt, Aksha Pardasany. Anshuman Pushkar, Anurag Arora, Sanjiv Chopra, and Vikram Singh Sodha in key roles and is directed by Sachin Pathak.

The show takes an investigative tone while it connects the Bombay blasts to Kathmandu. What DCP Samarth Kaushik and CBI officer Hitesh learn forms the crux.

The screenplay of the show is average. It takes a brilliant start on an intense note, and the first half of the show is good, but as the second part begins, the graph falls. However, the direction by Sachin Pathak is amazing.

Talking about the performances, Amit Sial is a treat to watch as DCP Samarth Kaushik. The actor has given his best work. On the other hand, Gopal Datt as CBI officer Hitesh is decent, and for the first time, we see him in a serious role. Aksha Pardasany as journalist Shivani Bhatnagar impresses us and has something different to offer.

The positive points are the concept and unique story. It is intriguing and interesting part to watch. The performances of the leads are good. From Amit Sial to Aksha Pardasany, everyone had delivered their best. The background music adds value to the overall viewing experience.

The negative is mainly the screenplay. The screenplay in the second half sees a dip. The series is a little boring after the first half, and the scenes look stretched due to underwriting. It deviates from the tpoic at hand here.

Overall, this six-episode series can be seen once if you are a fan of thrillers, and  do watch it for some solid performances.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 3/5 stars for Kathmandu Connection.
