MUMBAI: Right after the announcement and the first teaser, ‘Lootere’ gained all the attention. The series will be available to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar. It is directed by Jai Mehta and the showrunner is Hansal Mehta who is a well-known director known for his famous series Scam 1992. When talking about the cast of the series, it includes actors like Vivek Gomber, Deepak Tijori, Rajat Kapoor, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Amruta Khanvilkar.

Now Tellychakkar got in touch with the cast of Lootere and had an exclusive conversation with them where Hansal gave an interesting insight when he was asked why his movies aren’t working as well as his series.

In response to the question, Hansal Mehta said, ‘Dekhiye kya hota hai, unfortunately films hum Friday Saturday se ginte hai isiliye aapko lagta hai k kam log dekh rahe hai. (See what happens is that we unfortunately count the film's success on the basis of its collection from Friday Saturday).

Aaj 12 saal baad, mujhe ‘Shahid’ se log scenes batate hai kyu ki cinema discover hota hai (Today, even after 12 years, people come and talk to me about ‘Shahid’ because cinema is to be discovered).

Godfather jab aayi thi, main matlab hosh me bhi nahi tha (I was not even conscious when Godfather had released). I saw it today. Do I know that it was a success or a flop? No, is it a great piece of cinema? Yes it is.

Do I know how much money Satyajit Ray movies have made? No. It should not matter to anyone. It should not matter to me. It is the legacy that you leave behind. Cinema is something that you leave behind. It’s not something that the weekend determines.

Toh main kabhi uss rat race mein tha hi nahi (So I was never a part of this rat race). I feel that it is very reductive. Ye kaam hota hai na, Box office se film ki tulna karna, k art ko paiso se uski tulna karna, woh matlab thoda vulgar hai (It’s a job to measure the success of a movie by its box office collection, to measure the value of art with money, it’s a little vulgar).
