Mrs Serial Killer review: Jacqueline Fernandez shines in this engaging thriller

Netflix’s much awaited thriller movie Mrs. Serial Killer has been released and has much to offer. Read on to know more.

MUMBAI: Movie: Mrs Serial Killer

OTT: Netflix

Duration: 1h 46min

Jacqueline Fernandez had impressed the audience in films such as Kick, Race 3, Judwaa 2, Dishoom, and many more. She is back again with her second collaboration with Netflix titled Mrs. Serial Killer. As the name suggests, it’s a thriller.

Produced by Farah Khan and written and directed by Shirish Kunder, this movie has something to offer but only in bits and pieces.

The movie opens in Uttarakhand, where Sona Mukherjee (Jacqueline Fernandez) lives with her husband Mrityunjoy Mukherjee (Manoj Bajpayee). Some unwed but pregnant ladies are murdered, and the circumstantial evidence points towards Mrityunjoy. A vengeful inspector Imran Shahid (Mohit Raina) is handling the case, and it seems he wouldn’t stop chasing the truth easily.

After the arrest of her husband, Sona is willing to do anything and everything to release him from the jail, and she decides to kill the pregnant unmarried ladies in the same way the killer does just to prove that the serial killer is still out and to set his husband free.

But the twist here is that the things do not go according to the plan. Will she be able to succeed? Will she free her husband from jail. Who is the killer? Well, you need to watch the movie for these answers.

The story is very predictable, and there is no suspense factor. After an interesting start, the movie slows down and bores you at times. However, some gripping scenes and power-packed performances help keep you engaged.

Screenplay is the key element of the movie, and every scene is written well with good detailing.

The background music of the movie is another highlight and makes you feel more connected to it.

Talking about the performances, Jacqueline Fernandez has given her best. Her acting is at a different level and is indeed a treat for all her fans. The actress shines in this movie. Manoj Bajpayee has done an excellent job. Mohit Raina as a cop had done justice to his character. The niece of superstar Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan’s daughter, debutant Zayn Marie Khan deserves a special mention. She has delivered a surprisingly powerful performance.

Shirish Kunder has tried really hard to come up with a psychotic thriller, but the suspense is lacking. However, given the performances and screenplay, it is worth a watch.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 3 stars for Mrs. Serial Killer.
