Nyrraa M Banerji: If the family believes in you and you believe in yourself all you have to do is work on your skills and keep trying

MUMBAI: Amid the glitz and glamour of the film industry, celebrities are often associated with a rich and lavish lifestyle. But what many fail to understand is that they are also human beings like any of us and have good and bad times too. Jaana Hai Toh Jaa actor Nyrraa M Banerji shares that she too had to deal with difficult times.

“For 7 years I had been through rough times because I was trying to pursue my acting career along with my legal studies. By the time I completed my studies I had left so many films that I had to reconnect with everyone all over again. Also getting the right role, banner and remuneration is not easy. So yes, at that time I was busy working on my skills, knowing that when the time comes I'll be more polished and better equipped to be a part of the industry,” she says.

Talking about dealing with the pressure to keep up with the public image, Nyrraa shares that she never cared about the same. “I’m a qualified woman staying with my family, so financial issues were never a stress. I had my family backing me up. But yes, once you start earning you don’t like taking money from your family. That used to pinch me. But what is family for?  I knew when I would earn again things would be fine. Having a supporting family is very important. If the family believes in you and you believe in yourself all you have to do is work on your skills and keep trying. Plus, whatever money I have earned, 80% I have always invested, 10% I have donated and 10% I have used it for my daily expenses.”

With family and other responsibilities to take care of, a financial crunch can also take a toll on mental health. Many people went through this stress during the lockdown.

Agreeing, Nyrraa adds, “But you should be smart and stay safe. You have to pay your bills, no one else will help you. We need to be ready for the rainy day. So being responsible for yourself is the key.”
