"OTT Has Forced Everyone to Improve Content and Quality": Sandeep Kapoor Reflects on OTT’s Influence

Sandeep Kapoor

MUMBAI : Sandeep Kapoor has seen a major transformation in his career, especially in his portrayal of  Gajinder Gupta in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah's show Suman indori. From playing a powerful politician and a protective father, his character has become someone driven by revenge.

He explains, “My character has evolved 360 degrees since the beginning. From being a powerful politician and protective father to now taking revenge and openly threatening the Mittals. It’s challenging me every day to portray Gajinder Gupta” . This shift in his character has pushed Kapoor to explore new depths, making every day on set a new challenge.

The feedback from viewers has been overwhelmingly positive, something he is grateful for. “Till date, I’ve received very positive feedback from viewers and I hope they continue to enjoy the show in the future,” he says. The love and support from fans are what keep him motivated to give his best in every episode.

He also speaks highly of the production house he works with, calling them like family. “I feel like I’m working with my family. They are one of the best people to work with.” This strong bond between the cast and crew has helped create a supportive environment, which is reflected in the quality of the show.

The series touches on important societal issues, and he believes the story will resonate deeply with the audience. “The story of Suman Indori is touching many hearts. The content is so good that it affects us even while shooting, and it’s important for audiences to engage with such content.”

When it comes to the shift from traditional TV to OTT platforms, Sandeep sees both as having their own loyal audiences. “TV audiences are loyal, and TV will never diminish. OTT and TV both have their own audience.” He believes that while OTT has gained significant popularity, traditional TV remains an important part of the entertainment landscape.

He adds, “With the rise of OTT, audiences are exposed to world cinema, which has forced everyone to improve content and quality,”. This increase in global content has pushed the industry to elevate its standards, benefiting both creators and viewers.

Looking to the future, Sandeep hopes for more diversity in storytelling. “We all see the world through different lenses. If there were more diverse storytellers, we would live in a better world. Diversity in storytelling maximizes the range of perspectives.” He believes that exploring unique stories with different viewpoints will help the industry grow and evolve.
