I feel films and OTT are my kind of work: Kavitta Verma

MUMBAI: Actress Kavitta Verma, who was last seen in the series Kaala by Bejoy Nambiar, is looking forward to some interesting roles in the industry. In the past, she has worked in films like Policegiri, Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana, and R... Rajkumar.

Sharing her preference for roles, Kavitta says, “I last worked in a web series called Kaala, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. After that, I have been looking for a role in which I can showcase my capabilities.” She adds, “I really look forward to characters that have scope to display a range of performances. I feel films and OTT are my kind of work. Television is also good, but I have not done anything on television yet.” Kavitta also shares her thoughts on the cut-throat competition in the industry. She says, “I feel there is a lot of work for people in the industry, but there are many contenders too. Yes, there are preferences for certain people, and that's where the struggle begins. With my experience, I have realized that if you want to do anything, there is less competition. However, if you want to do specific kinds of roles, then there is a waiting period. An artist needs a lot of patience as long intervals between work are very common.”

Post-COVID, the success ratio for television shows, OTT series, and films has not been very high. On this, Kavitta says, “I am not anyone to judge why things are not working in the industry. Quality work matters. Today’s viewers are clever, sharp, and they want to invest time in good stuff.” When it comes to her own viewing preferences, Kavitta watches both Indian and Western content, and her favorite genre is drama. As the year 2024 comes to an end, Kavitta reflects on her learnings. “I feel that each year I look back and contemplate my lessons and experiences. Every fall comes with a learning; so does every rise. I just want to maintain stillness of mind and move ahead.”
