Rajat Kapoor Embraces the Unconventional in Amazon Original Series Khauf: A Thrilling Journey into Horror Awaits

Rajat

MUMBAI: Rajat Kapoor: A master storyteller, known for his bold choices and compelling performances that redefine the art of cinema. With a career defined by his commitment to meaningful storytelling, Kapoor has consistently pushed the boundaries of conventional cinema, breathing life into complex characters and compelling narratives that leave a lasting impact on audiences. Yet again, he comes back with another unconventional role in Prime Video’s upcoming horror series Khauf. Kapoor opens up about what drew him to the project, the creative thrill it brought him, and why this character is unlike anything he’s ever portrayed.

Talking about his role in Khauf, Kapoor shared, “The character is unlike anything I’ve done before. All I knew was, when I got the call and read the material, I was genuinely excited. It felt like a big shift for me—a real departure  from what I’ve done in the past.”

He continued, “Before meeting Pankaj and Smita, I read through the material they had sent me, and just reading it was thrilling. I actually felt a tingling sensation up my spine, which doesn't normally happen. I was extremely hooked and was already very excited about my role. Sometimes, a role can get diluted or not live up to your expectations, but this one was quite the opposite. The shooting experience, the costumes, the makeup – everything elevated it further. This is one of the few projects I've worked on that I'm really looking forward to. I don't usually get this excited about my work, but this one is truly exciting.”

Marking Smita Singh’s debut as a creator and showrunner, Khauf is executive-produced by Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil under the Matchbox Shots banner. Directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, the series boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Monika Panwar, Abhishek Chauhan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Shilpa Shukla in key roles. Khauf will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and across 240+ countries and territories on April 18.
