Rashmi Rocket review: A sports drama with a relevant message and great performances

MUMBAI: The movie Rashmi Rocket starring Taapsee Pannu, Priyanshu Painyuli and Abhishek Banerjee has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced. No doubt actress Taapsee Pannu was one of the major reasons for the excitement amongst the fans and now after a long wait, the movie made its way to the audience through digital platform zee5 and here is the complete review of the movie.

This sports drama is based on Rashmi who is from Gujarat who is also known as Rocket because of her high speed of running. After making a big name in the sports world Rashmi had to go through some challenging phases because her gender was questioned. How gender testing has impacted the personal and professional life of Rashmi, will she ever be able to fight this challenging phase of her life is something amazingly shown in this movie!

The screenplay of the movie is very decent, it loses its grip in between but the amazing performances by all the actors do not allow your attention level to go down. Also, the direction given by Akarsh Khurana is decent enough.

Talking about the performances, once again actress Taapsee Pannu will surely win your hearts as Rashmi in the movie. On the other hand actor, Priyanshu Painyuli has a strong screen presence throughout the movie and was decent on his part. Actor Abhishek Banerjee will surely win your heart as the lawyer, he is indeed one of the USPs of the movie. On the other hand, Supriya Pathak as Rashmi’s mother will impress you with her emotions, Manoj Joshi had very little to do in the movie but was decent on his part.

Talking about the positive points of the movie, it has to be a unique concept, the concept of the movie stands apart and we have not seen any movie made on such a subject. The chemistry between a mother and a daughter played by Supriya Pathak and Taapsee Pannu respectively is beautifully shown in the movie. Also as mentioned earlier Abhishek Banerjee will surely win your heart with his amazing dialogue delivery and his argument throughout the court scenes.

The negative point of the movie can be that the screenplay loses its grip in between. Also during the first half, there were very few scenes that threw light on Rashmi as an established athlete which fails to create the impact or overall movie.

Having said all these points no doubt Rashmi Rocket is a complete family entertainer and can be your choice over the weekend.

Tema TellyChakkar goes with 3.5/5 for Rashmi Rocket.
