MUMBAI : Nawazuddin Siddiqui never fails to amaze us with the unique characters that he selects. This time, he is back in a cop avatar and we must he almost made his mark with it.

So ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’ is based in a small town ‘Rautu Ki Beli’. The story revolves around SHO Deepak Negi who is trying to solve the case of a warden who has been murdered. The town is lazy and so are the people. Writer and director Anand Surapur (known for The Fakir of Venice) has a done good job of bring on screen the laziness in such an entertaining way while also maintaining the thrill element.

It takes time for the slow paced movie to get into action. However, when SHO Deepak Negi gets into action the thrill starts to take the front seat. Other than Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it was a delight to see Rajesh Kumar. Director and writer Anand Surapur along with co-writer Shariq Patel have done a good job of bringing to screen such a laidback yet unique style of investigation.

While the slow-pace investigation gives you a good insight about the town and its people, it also disengages you a little but soon, things get into action and suddenly you’ll find yourself at the edge of your seat. The writers have done a good job in incorporating the stories of blind students (played by Pratham Rathod and Drishti Gaba).

All-in-all, the story of the movie needed a slightly faster pace with more depth but the uniqueness with emotions and humour has been maintained. Nawazuddin and Rajesh’s performances complement each other well.

Tellychakkar gives the movie 3.5/5.
