MUMBAI : Ekta Kapoor has never failed to come up with new concepts, whether with movies or with television shows. Her new reality show Lock Upp, where 17 contestants will be locked in jail, play the game, and fight for getting bail to survive, was launched on MX Player and Alt Balaji. The audience loved the idea and the show has received an amazing response.

In the previous episode of the show, Payal Rohatgi was seen making Islamophobic comments at co-contestant Zeeshan Khan. The two were already involved in a heated-up argument over a news piece that spoke about banning Halal meat in Karnataka, which was aired inside the Lock Upp. The situation worsened as Payal called the latter a 'terrorist'. Other housemates opposed the comment, thus causing a stir inside the show. Zeeshan got all wrathful, too, and started abusing Payal. He also warned Payal that he might file a lawsuit against her, asking her to get a lawyer ready. Nisha and Munawar among other contestants revolted against the statement and sought her removal. Poonam Pandey also joined them and called out against Payal's comment. This led to a huge argument between both of them and ended up with Payal accusing Poonam of 'knowing only two things' either abusing or taking off clothes'.
Fans were agitated, too. They took down to Twitter that Payal should be thrown out of the show by using #lockoutpayal. a lot of fans also claimed that the show is scripted or else Payal would have been thrown out as soon as she made such an unacceptable comment.
