Should we have waited for theatrical release of these two films?

The game-changing and the most significant announcement related to the OTT world has been made yesterday.

MUMBAI: The game-changing and the most significant announcement related to the OTT world has been made yesterday. If Amazon Prime Video opened the gates, then Disney Plus Hotstar has literally brought in flood to the digital space with its biggies slate.

Disney Plus Hotstar announced Disney Plus Hotstar Multiplex. It promises to bring the ‘First Day First Show (FDFS)’ experience to the living room of the audience. They put for the first set of seven releases.

Among the seven that are out, a couple has got a unanimous response among the fans and movie lovers. It is about the theatrical release. Many opine that these two biggies should have waited to come out theatrically instead of taking the OTT.

The two biggies are Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb and Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India. The posters itself have done the trick as far as fans are considered. And they are right too, the thrills these movies could provide to an audience theatrically on the big screen in full houses can’t be replicated in a living room.

Unfortunately, the times are desperate, and it is a question of survival of the producers. Not all have the luxury to wait out for months and then risk a no show at the cinemas. Let’s see how these do digitally, and then we can come to a conclusion if they made the right choice or not.
