Trolled! Varun Dhawan calls Ananya Panday ‘Meryl Panday’ in Call Me Bae announcement video; netizens say, “It's an insult to Meryl Streep”

Ananya Panday will be seen in a show titled Call Me Bae and today, it has been officially announced. Well, it is getting trolled for many reasons and one of them is that in the announcement video Varun Dhawan compares Ananya with Meryl Streep.

MUMBAI :A few days ago, there were reports that Ananya Panday will be seen in a show titled Call Me Bae. Today, the show has been officially announced, and it will be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.
Karan Johar took to Instagram to make the announcement of the show and wrote, “FASHIONISTA ALERT!!!@ananyapanday is the new ‘BAE’ in town with some fashion tips and tricks that will definitely slay. And trust me, I’ll be following closely!”

In the video, Varun Dhawan is seen having a conversation with Ananya who plays the role of a fashion expert in the show. Well, in the video, Varun calls Ananya ‘Meryl Panday’ and netizens are trolling them for the same. Not just that, people on social media feel that it’s a copy of Meryl Streep starrer The Devil Wears Prada.

A netizen commented, “"Meryl Pandey"???? It's an insult to Meryl Streep.” Another netizen wrote, “Straight take off from devil wears prada? Why. Watch the original.” One more Instagram user wrote, “Why would you copy the iconic monologue of Miranda Priestly!?” Check out the comments below...

Apart from Call me Bae, Ananya Panday has Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Vikramaditya Motwane’s next, and Dream Girl 2. While the release dates of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Vikramaditya Motwane’s next are not yet announced, Dream Girl 2 will hit the big screens on 7th July 2023.
