For those who don't know, vitiligo is a skin condition that results in white areas on the skin due to pigment loss.

In a recent interview, Vijay said, “I have covered it up for my movies because it just distracts, and I don’t want my audience to look at anything else except for what I want to show them, so that is the reason I hide it. But for all my public appearances, for all these years, I have never bothered to cover it up.”
He added he has not received negative comments on his skin conditions. He said, “We make it a big deal because it is something that is out there, but I have never really made a big deal out of it.”
In response to a question about if his skin condition has hindered him in his twelve years in the business, Vijay Varma said that it was an issue when he was having trouble finding employment. He was afraid it might become a barrier. But now that he's established himself in his work and achieved success, it hasn't been a problem for him.
