MUMBAI: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Bawaal is one of the most awaited films of the year. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari who has helmed hit films like Bhoothnath Returns, Dangal, and Chhichhore. Well, the expectations from Bawaal are quite high as Tiwari is known for making high-on content but entertaining films.

Bawaal was slated to release in theaters on 6th October 2023, however a recent report suggests that the film will be getting a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video. As per the latest reports, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has reportedly sold the OTT rights to Amazon Prime Video for a staggering Rs 110 crores. The OTT release date of the film is yet to be announced.
As per a source, “In times when the OTT market is crashing, Sajid Nadiadwala got a deal of Rs. 110 crores from Amazon Prime Video. As known by everyone, Bawaal is not your run-of-the-mill commercial film, and the offer from Amazon gave Sajid and his team the security of assured returns. Varun and Janhvi also agreed to this decision as the film does not have those commercial trappings.”
This will be Varun’s second film to get a direct-to-digital release after Coolie No. 1 and Janhvi’s third OTT release.

Sajid and Nitesh have previously collaborated for the Sushant Singh Rajput-Shraddha Kapoor Starrer film Chhichhore.
