MUMBAI: Considering the current situation we're in, whenever the word 'polka' pops-up from anywhere in our regular discussion, we promptly pool-in the retro-era of the '80s to establish a direct connection to the same.
But it's justified as though polka dots were one of the most popular PATTERN - which represented the classic white-and-black colour combination of the 1980s.
During that era, this pattern along with stripes were a riotous favorite in every colour and size possible...often all at once!
These stripes, dots and many other bold patterns found their place under the sun and in the fashion trends of regular '80s civilians.
Colours that were used to highlight these patterns were often loud and clear, from the top of one's head to the tip of their toe.
For reference, a very popular animated movie character - world-class fashion designer Cruella DeVil's costumes had these aesthetics as the poignant highlights of her super swanky and cozy outfits made of real animal's skin.
Now in the 21st C, the typical '80s and '90s core fashionwear are making their way back in the generic demand-market as that age old hype had been missed.
For the twist quotient, the classic design-trend is being experimented on different outfits and with various colours options, even on an Indian saree.
On that note, let's take a look at our enchanting telly and Bolly actresses like Aishwarya Sakhuja, Vidya Balan, Shraddha Arya, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rubina Dilaik, Kiara Advani, Tejasswi Prakash and lastly, Anita Hassanandani recreating the retro look in polka-dotted sarees:
