MUMBAI: Television is a visual medium where looking good is as important as possessing good acting skills. TV actors are as popular Bollywood stars now. They are paid well, enjoy an immense fan following, attain success, and above all, work very hard to maintain that insane body. Those rock-hard abs, to-die-for figure, and glowing skin don’t come easy: it is a mix of diet and exercise.
It is often said that to have a fit body, one needs a 70 percent focus on diet and 30 percent on exercise.
To achieve that curvaceous body, celebrities have caught on to the ketogenic diet trend or, as it is better known, the keto diet. The eating plan has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, and this could be due in part to it being embraced by several actors, sports stars, and reality TV stars.
Followers of the common version of the plan source 75 percent of their daily calories from fat, 20 percent from protein, and just 5 percent from carbohydrates. This means eliminating most grains, fruit, starchy vegetables, legumes, and sweets. These calories are replaced with fat. All it takes is a few days of eating this way for the body to enter ketosis, which essentially means the body starts burning fat instead of glucose (carbohydrates) for fuel.
Along with several other TV actors, Chandragupta Maurya’s Vinit Kakar also follows a keto diet. Read on to know what he likes about the diet and how it has helped him.
He says, ‘To start with keto was advised me by my dietician, because I had become overweight and wanted to attain chiseled body with abs and lean muscles in a natural way, without taking any banned substance or steroids. Now, keto is no more a diet but a way of life. I have a cheat meal once in 8 to 10 days. It's almost two years that I am on keto, and the best thing is it compliments my profession. I personally find it healthy.’
