Just because he’s such a lovable Lord, idol-makers go all out while making Bappa’s idols for Chatruthi. With the festival of modaks here, we take a look at five idols that were inspired by Bollywood. Read on:
Bajirao Ganpati:
Modelled after Bajirao from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Bajirao Mastani, this idol is full of vigour and majestic feel. Since warriors used to pray to the Lord before venturing into battles, an idol in the shape of a warrior is like life coming a full circle, eh?
Bahubali Ganesha:
With Shivling on his shoulders, the mighty Lord is seen in his fiercest form in the Bahubali-inspired look. Considering the movie’s mammoth success, we are sure that the mandals had a fun time hosting this unique creation. Isn’t it, people?
Robot Vignesha:
In its fiercest and multiple form, this idol draws inspiration from Robot. Note how Ganesha has been given Shiva’s fiery form…perfect to make the Chaturthi celebrations a grand affair, right?
Makkhi Gajanan:
The sleeper hit, Makkhi, has also been used as blueprint to make the Elephant Lord’s idol. While the jury is still out on the aesthetic value of it, there’s no denying that it takes B-Town obsession to a whole new level.
Lagaan Vignaharta:
For a nation that’s crazy about cricket, it’s but natural to turn our favorite Lord into a cricketer. Damn cool, eh?
