This Oscar award-winning movie saw Ron Westwood as an AIDS patient, who smuggled inappropriate drugs during the worst phase of the disease. The movie was a massive hit and made people take the disease and its effects seriously.
Phir Milenge:
In this Bollywood offering, Salman Khan plays a victim of this vicious disease. Ably supported by Shilpa Shetty, the movie made ripples across film circles. The movie was a moderate hit, but the critics lapped it up!
My Brother Nikhil:
The movie set a benchmark for its homosexual theme, what with Juhi Chawla at the helm of things. The movie was a hit at all the film circles for its sensitive portrayal of an important issue. If you haven't watched it yet, do make it a point to do so soon.
Angels in America:
In this interconnected story, set in the mid-80s, the story follow the lives of AIDS patients and how their lives come together in a seamless fashion. It's a hard-hitting and heart-wrenching tale that puts into perspective the issues related to this disease.
Nidaan:
In this myth-shattering story, a young girl contracts AIDS during a faulty blood transfusion. How her parents and boyfriend take care of her and how she comes out of this with a brave front forms the crux of the story.
