What Bollywood Heroines Can Learn From Alia Bhatt

She may be the newest kid on the block, but Alia Bhatt sure knows how to keep the media and audiences interested in her. The spunky SOTY star can teach a lesson or two to Bollywood's leading ladies. Here are five such gems the Deepikas and Katrinas can pick up from the Bhatt babe. Read on...

It's okay to laugh at yourself:

How many actresses can boast of a meme, solely dedicated to their DQ?(Dumb Quotient, silly!). It's not something to be proud of, but by accepting it as an everyday occurrence, she has proved that laughing at yourself is fun. She not only took the entire episode in her stride, but also released her own comic video! When every actress worth her mascara is crying hoarse about petty issues, this diva makes the best of her publicity. Atta girl!

Working with the Khans isn't mandatory:

She has had four back-to-back hits and none with any of the Khans. What does that say about her? In an era when working with the Khans is considered to be a fool-proof mantra for success, the petite actress has broken the myth in her own ways. Perhaps that's the reason she is more connected with her fans than the Sonakshis and Deepikas of B-Town. Because playing your age makes you more relatable and proves that you succeeded on your own terms.

It's okay to not be a thinking man's actress:

She is young, vivacious and totally filmy. What's wrong with that? Why should she choose roles according to the critics? She did a Highway too, remember? She is comfortable playing into the galleries and being a 'typical' heroine. Other leading ladies can definitely take a cue from this. When they proclaim that they want to be a thinking man's actress, we have no idea what they're trying to say. What the hell is a thinking man's actress anyway?

Kissing onscreen is liberating:

Why should guys have all the fun, eh? Alia is giving her cousin Emraan Hashmi a run for his money in the kissing department. She has had an intimate kiss in all her movies, including her debut hit. Before the Bhatt prodigy came along, actresses only indulged in a kissing scene if it was necessary. Deepika Padukone did try to break that myth, but the Bhatt beauty beat her to it. Ms Padukone may be ruling Bollywood now, but it's Alia guys are drooling over!

It's kickass to call a spade a spade:

It's a spade, right? What else will you call it? Jokes apart, the youngster has been rather forthcoming with her candid views and comments. It's such a refreshing change to see somebody not going the diplomatic way. I mean, how else will gossip columns survive but for such juicy tales?
