Overheard - Nagesh Kukunoor and Gul Panag thrashing Manish Malhotra's fashion show

Manish Malhotra's high powered fashion soirée with Bollywood divas at 'Save and Empower the girl child', apparently hasn't gone down well with some of our industry denizens. We yesterday overheard Nagesh Kuknoor and Gul Panag raising an audible stink about how inappropriate the staging of the show was. The duo's rather loud and animated discussion caught our ever attentive ears at a party, yesterday night. Deriding the entire intention of staging a fashion event, Nagesh loudly brooded that the entire timing was inappropriate. “I didn't understand what a fashion show was doing at women's empowerment event. You are talking about women's empowerment and then you have Manish Malhotra's fashion show.” Agreeing to his thoughts, Gul echoed, "The event was indeed a noble one with the hospital organising 50,000 free check-ups for the girl child but even I couldn't understand what a fashion show was doing there. It was completely rubbish. You have women's empowerment meet and there you stage Manish Malhotra's fashion show and that too with almost eight actresses walking the ramp and Madhuri Dixit as the show stopper. What was the need to do all that. It defeats the entire purpose of the event.” And lending a patient ear to this entire discussion was actress Pooja Bedi. Before the duo could go more ballistic, other guests joined them and the conversation drifted to other worldly affairs. Wonder why Gul Panag found the fashion show inappropriate? We think this could more be a case of sour grapes. After all, Gul was present at the event but unfortunately wasn't among the eight actresses who walked for Manish Malhotra.
