4th Jagran Film Festival ends in style

4th Jagran Film Festival
The closing ceremony of the 4th Jagran Film Festival was a gala affair that saw the glitz and glam of the film industry descend at a suburban hotel in Mumbai. If Kangana Ranaut, Nimrat Kaur, Karishma Tanna, Huma Quershi upped the glamour quotient, the arrival of legends like Kamal Hassan and Manoj ‘Bharat’ Kumar only made the event look more phenomenal. The evening was kick started by emcees Huma Quershi who wore a resplendent Indian wear and actor Kunal Kapoor. Hindi films created a major flutter as they won a host of awards this year. While the best screenplay was given to Juhi Chaturvedi for the film Vicky Donor, the best cinematography award was given to Pankaj Kumar for the film Ship of Theseus for creating images that stay with you forever. The surprise element though was Ayushman Khurrana winning the best male singer award for Pani Da Rang from Vicky Donor while Aditi Singh Sharma walked away with the award for the best female singer for Heroine. Pritam’s soulful music from Barfi won him the best music director’s award. Jagran also honoured yesteryear superstar Manoj Kumar with a Lifetime Achievement award. As the actor walked on to the dais to receive his award, the audience gave him a standing ovation. A choked Kumar thanked the audience for their love and support and gracefully accepted the award from Kamal Hassan. The big awards were again ruled in favour of Hindi movies. While Sridevi clinched the best actress trophy for English Vinglish, the best actor award was shared by Ranbir Kapoor for Barfi and Farhan Akhtar for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Kai Po Che was declared as the best film. Kamal Hassan’s Vishwaroopam was presented the special jury award for raising the bar of mainstream Indian cinema to International level. The event also saw pulsating performances from artistes like Raghu Dixit, Shankar Tucker and Maati Baani.
