MUMBAI: Together, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor debuted as actors in the 2000 movie Refugee. JP Datta directed the romance drama, which became an enormous hit. The shoot was not as easy going as one might assume, though. Because Kareena Kapoor saw Abhishek as a brother, she was hesitant to undertake love scenes with him.
In a previous interview Abhishek heaped praise for Kareena but then said, “I will never forgive you for ruining me in that scene because I remember the first thing you ever said to me was that AB, this is our first romantic scene together, and how can I fall in love with you? You’re like my brother.”
Kareena in another interview said, “I have always maintained that Abhishek is the first actor with whom I gave my first shot. To me, he holds a very special place in my heart that no actor and no person can ever take. When I look at him, I look at him with pride, joy, and with happiness. It’s sad things went sour.”
She added, “If he chooses not to do a film with me, it’s vice versa because I understand the comfort levels will not be the same, likewise from my side as well. I think people should respect that.”
Despite not becoming the Bachchan bahu, Karisma Kapoor wed Sanjay Kapur in 2003. 2014 saw the two split up following a contentious divorce trial. Kiaan Kapoor and Samaira Kapoor are their two children. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan tied the knot in 2007. Together, they are parents to Aaradhya Bachchan.
