MUMBAI: After Tanushree Dutta pioneered the #MeToo movement in India, several women raised their voices against sexual harassment. One of the most distressing incidents that were narrated was that of producer–writer Vinta Nanda, who accused Alok Nath of raping her. She recently filed an FIR against Alok.
The actor has now been denied anticipatory bail in the Dindoshi Sessions Court. A report stated, ‘On Friday, the court had adjourned the matter to December 20, after the complainant’s lawyer sought time to file an intervention plea opposing bail for Nath.’ Now, the police can bring him in anytime they want. However, there will be another hearing pertaining to the matter on December 20th.
Alok has apparently gone underground. The Cine and Television Artists’ Association (CINTAA) has also ousted after he repeatedly failed to show up for his hearings.
His wife had filed an injunction against Vinta, barring her from making any statement in public until the defamation suit was decided. But the Sessions Court rejected that plea also.
