MUMBAI : Recently, Ankita Lokhande revealed that Randeep Hooda had serious doubts about enlisting her for his next movie, Swatantra Veer Savarkar. In the much-awaited biography, Lokhande will soon be seen playing Yamunabai, the wife of Veer Savarkar.

Ankita revealed recently at an event that Randeep thought Ankita was "too pretty" to be in the movie. Following her time on Bigg Boss 17, Swatantra Veer Savarkar will star in her debut film.

At the event, Ankita said that Randeep had researched very well about her character. She then revealed, “He told me, ‘I don’t think I want you in the film’. I was like, why? He was like, ‘You are too pretty for the character (Yamunabai Savarkar)’. I was like, ‘Please don’t say that’.”

Coming back to Swatantra Veer Sarkar, the film has been directed and co-written by Randeep himself along with Utkarsh Naithani.

Randeep Hooda is slated to play Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the controversial independence fighter, in the film "Swatantra Veer Savarkar." In March 2022, Randeep Hooda stated that he would be playing Savarkar, and it would be a challenge.

“There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our independence. However, not everyone has gotten their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated, and influential of these unsung heroes, and his story must be told. I am delighted to collaborate with Sandeep after ‘Sarabjit’, for Swatantra Veer Savarkar. It will be yet another challenging role to portray,” he said.

According to reports, the movie would be filmed at several sites in London, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Maharashtra. "Compelling odyssey, bringing to life the legendary yet neglected tale of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, a visionary and a firebrand," is how the film's creators reportedly characterize it.

In addition to Ankita and Randeep, Amit Sial is featured in the movie. The Hindi and Marathi versions of Swatantra Veer Savarkar are slated to open in theaters on March 22. Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Randeep Hooda, and Yogesh Rahar are the producers of the movie.
