Ankita Lokhande reveals why she chose Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi for her B-town debut

Pavitra Rishta actress Ankita Lokhande made her big Bollywood debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.

MUMBAI: Ankita Lokhande is one of the most popular faces of the small screen who rose to fame with her debut show Pavitra Rishta. The diva was paired opposite late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and their onscreen pair had become a huge hit among the viewers. 

After wrapping up Pavitra Rishta, Ankita took a long break from her work. She made a smashing comeback with historical drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Ankita essayed the pivotal role of Jhalkari Bai in the movie.     

In one of her interviews, Ankita revealed what motivated her to make her Bollywood debut with this film. The actress went on to say that Jhalkari Bai was a very powerful and sensible character. Ankita said she never thought she would make her debut with a historical film.

Ankita further added that when she heard the narration of the script from the director she got very fascinated by Jhalkari Bai’s character. The actress also revealed how she simply loved the name Jhalkari Bai and thought this would be the perfect character to make her film debut. She also felt that she might get to act in commercial films but such a historical film may not come her way. 

Well, Ankita's choice for her debut film garnered her praises and she definitely won hearts with her stellar performance.
