Kher described the event in posts on his official Instagram profile and X handle. “Last night in my Veera Desai Road office two thieves broke two doors and stole the entire safe from the accounts department (which they probably couldn’t break) and the negatives of a film produced by our company which was in a box. Our office has filed an FIR,” without naming the movie whose negatives were taken, the actor wrote in Hindi.

The two were seen leaving in an auto rickshaw, according to CCTV footage captured outside the building, Kher continued, stating, "may God give them good sense (sad-buddhi)." According to the police officer, the investigation was ongoing when the First Information Report was filed at the Amboli police station following the applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

Anupam Kher recently discussed how content-driven films are becoming more and more well-known globally in a conversation with a well-known news source. Speaking of films such as Lapaata Ladies and Chamkila, he stated, “Content is very important nowadays. It always was, but now the audience is different. Look at what happened at Cannes – we have two unknown people getting the highest honours. It’s phenomenal. A Delhi girl walked on the red carpet stitching her own dress. The world is open to creativity – it always was, but now India is open to creativity. What doesn’t touch heart doesn’t make an impact. You cannot dwarf the audience by making them feel smaller. They’re open to malls, they’re open to modern India, and big cinema – they are used to everything. You can’t now say, ‘Dekho hum apko Switzerland leke jaa rahe hai.’ Unke liye koi bahut badi baat nahi hai. Par content agar Achha huya toh choti film bhi chalegi aur badi bhi. I think, it’s the end of fakeness.”
