Emboldened by the tremendous response that his latest film Barfi has been getting all around, Anurag Basu has now decided to helm an issue-based film on Bihar's innovative educational coaching institute Super 30 and its founder Anand Kumar. It is said that earlier, Basu met Anand Kumar and talked to him.
According to sources, if the project comes through, Ranbir, who has essayed the deaf and mute Barfi, could well be playing the lead role of Anand Kumar. Both Basu and Ranbir Kapoor have quietly been researching the life of Anand Kumar like the way he has been grooming 30 students every year at his own cost for over a decade, his style of teaching etc.
The director had also visited Patna to spend time with Anand Kumar to understand how he works and the extent of the man's reach in the field of mathematics. Basu has already collected enough information on Anand Kumar, including his research work published in international journals and the success of his students.
The film will make a great story of how students from poor families turn a new leaf with just the right opportunity - something even reservation and other incentives have not been able to do.
Meanwhile, Basu has revealed that he may make an English-language version of Barfi!. The film will centre on a love triangle involving a hearing- and speech-impaired man and two women.
Experts are of the opinion that the sections of non-Indian viewers who have seen Barfi! say it has the potential to break through the language barrier.
Incidentally, the UTV produced film has already collected over Rs 2 million internationally since its release.
