Where on earth is Arshad Warsi these days? If sources are to be believed, the actor is getting ready for the biggest challenge of his career that of playing Dawood Ibrahim in Nikhil Advani’s film D Day. The film, about a bunch of RAW agents assigned to bring Dawood back from Pakistan to Delhi by road, is currently in the casting process. The crucial role of Dawood has gone to Arshad Warsi though the actor has his reservations about the same. Says a source, “Playing Dawood is not quite as simple as it sounds. Many an actor has reprised the role. And Arshad does not want getting into a space already occupied by any other actor. He has, reportedly, asked for time to think about and think out the role at length.” Another source tells us that playing Dawood could hamper Arshad’s image of Circuit in Munnabhai. “The new film that decries everything that Dawood represents is all set to roll by the year- end. Should he risk playing such a character at a time when the Munnabhai franchise is ready to be renewed, is the big question before the actor. But Arshad should remember that Ben Kingsley, soon after him playing Gandhi went on to play an abusive Arab sheikh in Harem,” the source adds. In short, the dilemma facing Arshad is whether to be faithful to the Munnabhai brand, or be adventurous as an actor? When contacted, Arshad says, “You should ask Nikhil Advani if he is making it and if I am doing it.”
