Comedy, humour not deliberately forced in 'Fraud Saiyyan': Arshad Warsi

Actor Arshad Warsi, who is gearing up for the release of Fraud Saiyyan, says that comedy and humour are not deliberately forced in his forthcoming film.

Arshad was interacting with the media on the sets of Fraud Saiyyan along with Elli Avram here on Tuesday.

Talking about the nature of Fraud Saiyyan, the actor said, "It is a very interesting film. Comedy and humour are not forced deliberately in the film. It will really seamlessly flow onscreen. The character which I am playing in the film is really interesting and it is one of those characters which every actor want to play.

"The amazing part of the film is that it's a true story and we have given apt title for the film. It's actually based on facts so I enjoyed that. When you hear bizarre truth that time you say, it is not possible but what you will see in the film that time, you will feel amazed that somebody has actually done it."

The makers of Fraud Saiyyan have recreated popular song Chamma Chamma which has been originally picturised on Urmila Matondkar in China Gate.

Talking about the recreated version of the song, Arshad said, "I feel really good when you have a song that people have already liked and they can hum and dance to it.

"Chamma Chamma is very good song. It's brilliant as beats of this song are really interesting so, to have that song back again is wonderful. We have got Elli Avram dancing to it and she is bloody good in it."

When asked whether she felt any sort of pressure while performing on the Chamma Chamma song as it is known as one of the iconic songs of Hindi films, Elli said, "When makers of this film approached me with this song, I remember I got so excited and I said yes to it because I wanted to be part of this song."

Talking about the release date of the song and the film, the actor said, "We will release the song in the first week of December and we are planning to launch trailer of the film around the same period and the film is releasing on January 18."

Fraud Saiyyan is a comedy film directed by Sourabh Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha and Disha Jha. It also has Sara Loren, Saurabh Shukla and Deepali Pansare in key roles.

Madhuri thrilled about 'Mowgli...'

Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene says she is excited to lend her voice to a key character in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle for its Hindi dubbed version.

The Bollywood diva will bring to life Nisha, the wolf mother of Mowgli, in the Netflix film.

"It's an amazing experience for any actor to bring a character to life by just lending their voice.

"I watch a lot of VFX rich, adventure films with my sons and have always wanted to lend my voice to such mysterious characters," Madhuri said in a statement.

"I'm thrilled to finally get a chance to do this. To top it all, when I told my son about this, he got so excited and said -- 'That's so cool mom!' His reaction totally made my day," she added.

Directed by Andy Serkis, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle will bring the world of Rudyard Kipling's 1864 classic The Jungle Book alive on 7 December, when it premieres globally on Netflix.

The Jungle Book tells the story of Mowgli, an Indian boy, wandering in an enchanted forest with an entourage of his animal friends and fighting for survival.

Mowgli's adventures have made way for several adaptations like the popular eponymous 1967 animated film or Jon Favreau's similarly titled re-imagination.

Zayn Malik sings 'Allah Duhai Hai'

One Direction star Zayn Malik has wowed Indian fans by singing the song Allah Duhai Hai from superstar Salman Khan's Race 3 movie.

Malik on Tuesday took to Instagram and shared the cover of the Hindi song, which has over 22,00,000 views currently.

The singer not just sang in impeccable Hindi but gave it a twist by adding Electronic Dance Music (EDM) beats to it.

"For the fans," he captioned the song.

This is not the first time Malik has attempted singing a Hindi song. He has previously done covers of Hindi tracks like Allah ke bande and Teri Deewani. However, he was forced to take down his version of Teri Deewani" after severe trolling.

Malik is popular for numbers like Duskk till dawn, I don't wanna live forever and Let me among many others.

Big B to aid sewer workers by donating 50 machines

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be donating 50 machines to aid sewer workers and stop them from entering the pit that dehumanises their existence.

He wants to make their lives safer and provide them with social dignity that they deserve.

"Manual scavenging refers to the practice of manually cleaning, carrying, disposing or handling in any manner, human excreta from dry latrines and sewers," Amitabh wrote in his blog after several deaths of these workers were reported lately.

It often involves using the most basic of tools such as buckets, brooms and baskets.

"They (workers) go down the manholes of the city, to clean, in the most inhuman conditions without any proper equipment of safety care. Many perish inside the pits due to asphyxiation and deadly fumes discriminated against..."

"I came across this information during the cleanathon of 15 hours recently and I am buying 50 machines for these workers so they do not have to enter the pits but are able to clean the manholes and sewers from outside with these machines, saving the indignity they suffer from the public."

The 76-year-old thespian also gave details about the machinery he was planning to buy and present to the civic body in a few days.

"The machines are fairly large, a bit cumbersome to operate, but do the job...," he said, adding that the ones he would get were of smaller size and could be personally owned by the worker.

"There is the larger version too, that cannot be moved about other than on a truck .. this shall be presented by me to the Municipal Corporation .. in a day or two," he added.

Amitabh wrote that "manual scavenging" is a term used mainly in "India for a caste-based occupation involving the manual removal of untreated human excreta from bucket toilets or pit latrines by hand with buckets and shovels".

"It has been officially prohibited by law in 1993 due to it being regarded as a dehumanising practice but if they can be given some basic facilities through engaging machinery, it would make their lives a lot safer and give them the social dignity that they deserve," Big B added.

We have to have gumption as an actor: Kareena Kapoor Khan

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was last seen onscreen in Veere Di Wedding, says that actors or actresses have to have gumption to do whatever they feel like doing irrespective of any medium.

Kareena was interacting with the media when she launched her radio show titled "What Women Want with Kareena Kapoor Khan" on Ishq 104.8 FM on Tuesday, here.

When asked whether it is difficult for actresses in the film industry to follow their heart because it's consistently telling them to be a certain way and to look a certain way and they lose out on roles if they speak up, she said, "I think in any field there would be this issue. We hear about it a lot because we are in the film industry and lot of reporting is done of this field.

"I am sure it's everywhere but I think today we have lot of opportunities and path-breaking actors be it Radhika Apte and the girl in Sacred Games Kubra (Sait - played role of transgender in the web series), so we are having these girls who are fighting back and doing these kind roles which is brilliant. So, I think we have to have gumption as actors or actresses that this is what we are going to do be it on any medium.

"I think actor's colour, shape or size, nothing matters. If you are putting your best effort then your hard work and talent will succeed and we are building up to that."

Asked whether the film industry is giving a secure environment to women at the work place, she said, "Of course that's what we want. We are openly having conversation today. The fact that so many women have come out and spoken, I think that's a start.

"In fact, earlier people haven't spoken for years and today people have come forward so, I really appreciate those women who had the courage to stand up and talk because that is going to help all of us to change our workplace and to give ourselves security."

Kareena also urged that we have to keep this conversation alive.

"It doesn't matter whether you are biggest superstar or the smallest but women have to be secured and most importantly, we have to keep momentum going and keep conversation alive. If we keep that alive a lot will change," Kareena expressed.

With 'Simmba', Rohit Shetty has taken action to next level: Sonu Sood

Tall and brawny actor Sonu Sood has done many stunts in his career. But he says in Rohit Shetty's Simmba, he has done something "special".

Sonu, who paid a tribute to Bollywood's action heroes at the opening ceremony of the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here, believes times have changed for action sequences in the Hindi film world, and Simmba will be an example of how it has evolved.

"Dabangg was very special for me. I broke my nose also in a sequence with Salman Khan. But if you talk about the latest one, you will see me doing something very special and something I have not done in Simmba," Sonu told a publication on being asked about his most special action performances till date.

"If you ask me the same question next month, the priority will be Simmba," Sonu added of the much-awaited 'masala' entertainer, which stars the inimitable Ranveer Singh in the lead role.

The film's team has been teasing fans about the intensity and power-laden action sequences.

Without divulging much, Sonu, who will sport two looks in the film -- one bearded and one non-bearded – said, "This time he (Rohit) has gone to the next level only. I am very excited about it. I am sure people will love it."

He said while the growing world of VFX is lending a high on technology touch to action on the big screen, the old world charm of classic hand-fist fighting scenes makes Bollywood buffs nostalgic.

"People used to go to theatres to watch action movies in a big way. Kids used to try those action stunts at home.

"Now with VFX and all, time is changing. Technology is bringing a change in cinema and helps actors perform action that is larger than life, but that rawness which we used to see in Bollywood, is still entertaining.

"We still get glued to the TV if we see those films on air. Those action sequences may not be larger than life but they are special, they are raw which we miss sometimes nowadays," said the actor, who also featured with action superstar Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Yoga.

At IFFI, he was pretty excited to perform to iconic songs and dialogues of stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Salman Khan.

Fit as a fiddle at 45, Sonu has also been promoting fitness through social media and on-ground events and internationally too.

"I feel in today's world when technology has completely taken over, with PS4 and mobile games and board games, the newer generation gets glued to it. They don't go to play outdoors.

"It's important to make the kind of films or do some activities which inspires them to go out. Every parent must push their kid to try doing some sport or physical activity. It's important," said the father of two sons.

Fitness has been a way of life for the actor, who comes from Punjab and has done a string of multilingual films.

"I chose fitness because I loved it. I never thought I will one day become an actor and it will help me. Fitness was something I thoroughly enjoyed and it is something I still do -- Whether I am travelling or whether I have time or not."
