Sushant Singh Rajput is today seen as one of the brightest actors to have emerged in recent times and perhaps the only one to have made a successful transition from television to films after SRK. But it does come as a surprise that in his early days as a struggling actor, his teachers and mentors used to view him only as an above average performer.
Reveals Sushant, "Barry John under whom I trained used to call me as an above average actor. Even Shiamak Davar used to say that I am not among his best dancers."
While such comments can have a demoralising effect on many, Sushant's made of stronger stuff. The actor instead of being shattered took it in his stride and believed in the fact that he could make it big. Ask him on what he differently as compared to other TV actors to taste success in Bollywood, Sushant says, "I believed. I totally believed in myself. I had read a book which said actors are never made. They are only trained in theaters. So atleast people used to see me as an actor which made me believe in myself."
Apart from Byomkesh Bakshy, Sushant is also prepping up for his next movie, Dhoni for which he has been growing his mane. "It takes me 10 minutes just to wash my hair," says Sushant.
Ask him why he thinks he was chosen to play Dhoni by director Neeraj Pandey, pat comes his reply. "I never ever asked Neeraj why he chose me."
