Satabdi Roy’s much hyped Bengali version of The Dirty Picture has been shelved after Balaji head honcho Ekta Kapoor objected to the title and asked her not to make the film. It is said that Ekta was also not agreeable for a scene by scene making of her film, through a legal notice.
Confirming the news Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, “A legal notice has been sent to the producer restraining her from the use of the title, as it was the case of passing off. We received a polite response denying the news reports of such a film being made by them. A similar legal notice has been sent to the Kannada filmmakers also but the communication with them is still happening.”
Meanwhile, Rakhi Sawant, who was set to play the lead role in the Bengali film, is shattered and hopes her good friend Ekta withdraws her complaint., “I don't want to comment on it right now. I am very depressed because the film is not happening," said Rakhi.”
Earlier, Ekta tried to stop producer Venkateappa from making the Kannada version of The Dirty Picture, but the filmmaker went ahead with the project after getting a green signal from a film body.
