Bhaag Milkha Bhaag sweeps the 59th Filmfare awards
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag swept as many as six awards at the 59th Filmfare awards ceremony that was held last night. It was followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela that could bag only two trophies. While Bhaag Milkha Bhaag bagged the best film, best actor (Farhan Akhtar), best director (Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra), best lyrics (Prasoon Joshi), best production design and best costume awards. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela lapped up the best actress (Deepika Padukone) and best supporting actress (Supriya Pathak) awards. The other awards are as follows: best dialogue and best story (Subhash Kapoor) for Jolly LLB, best screenplay (Chetan Bhagat, Abhishek Kapoor, Supratik Sen and Pubali Chaudhari) for Kai Po Che, best supporting actor (Nawazuddin) for Lunchbox. The best male playback singer awards was collected by Arijit Singh for Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2) , best female playback singer was given to Monali Thakur for Sawaar Loon (Lootera), while the best music awards was lapped up by Mithoon, Jeet Ganguly, Ankit Tiwari (Aashiqui 2), The best background score award was handed over to Hitesh Sonik (Kai Po Che). In the technical category, the award for the best VFK was collected by Tata Elxi (Dhoom 3), the best action award was shared by Tom Struthers and Guru Bachchan (D-Day), the best cinematography award was bagged by Kamaljeet Negi (Madras Café), the best editing award was lapped up by Aarif Sheikh (D-Day), the best production design was collected by Acropolis Design (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), the best sound design award was given to Bishwadeep Chatterjee and Nihar Ranjan Samar (Madras Cafe) and the best costume award was collected by Dolly Ahluwalia (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag). Vaani Kapoor collected the best debut female award for Shuddh Desi Romance while the best debut male award was given to Dhanush (Raanjhnaa). The best film (critics) award went to Ritesh Batra (Lunchbox), the best actor (Critics) male award was given to Rajkumar Rao (Shahid) while the best actor (critics) female award went to Shilpa Shukla (BA Pass). The lifetime achievement award was presented to Tanuja.
