Ajay Devgn is on a roll!! After the super success of Singham, he is all set to tickle your comic bone in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan which is slated to release on 6 July2 012.
Talking about his role in the movie (which is inspired by the 1979 super hit film Gol Maal), the actor says, “I play a village wrestler, a strong man who thinks that he can speak English. But the fact is that he is very bad. Since everybody is scared of him, nobody corrects his language”.
On Bol Bachchan being inspired by Gol Maal, Ajay who is co-producing the movie with Shree Ashtvinayak Creations says, “We did buy the rights of the original film. If we seniors do not set the correct example, we cannot expect others to follow.
Ask about his bulky look in the promos and Ajay says, “Wrestlers need to look muscular and they don’t have flat board 6 pack frame.”
Ajay, who has worked with co-star Abhishek Bachchan (Zameen, LOC Kargil) before says, “We thoroughly enjoyed working with each other and there is a comfort level that we share.”
Remind him about the song in the film where Amitabh Bachchan also features and Ajay says, “Yes, it was Director Rohit’s (Shetty) idea to have Amit ji virtually introduce the film. He worked hard on the song in the dubbing stage.”
Ajay, who is called the prankster of the industry says, “I have not pulled any major prank since the last one year. More than us, it was the Comedy Circus guys, Krushna Abhishek and Paresh Ganatra who kept the whole unit in splits with their mimicry.”
Ajay is confident that Bol Bachchan too will rock, “For it is a clean entertainer with the right dose of laughter and action. Normally we know that a film will not work when we are in the making stage itself.”
He further refuses to join the issue wherein certain critics and film makers pan big commercial successful films (100 crore club) as nonsense saying, “I think it is a case of sour grapes, we are here to provide the public what they want. If you want to make a class film, make it for yourself, why bore the audiences?”
So does that mean Ajay will not do any more serious films like Gangaajal and Apaharan? Ajay avers, “It depends on the film maker, Prakash Jha keeps us entertained and engaged even while tackling such realistic issues, while other makers sadly turn it into documentary type films. That is the reason why I am doing Satyagraha with Prakash Jha”.
