MUMBAI : Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan recently talked about the difficulties he first faced when trying for an audition in Mumbai. Kartik claimed to live as part of a 12-person flat complex. Speaking on Kapil Sharma's Netflix show, the actor said, "I used to live in a flat with 12 guys in the beginning. There would be 4 boys in one room. Someone wanted to be a writer or director, but most of us wanted to be actors. In the first year, none of my housemates knew that I was there to become an actor. They thought I was in Mumbai to intern. I had told them I was doing a biotech internship at Kokilaben."

"Pyaar Ka Punchnama was not very big at that time, it was a small-budget film with newcomers, and I faced this when I signed a film and it didn’t happen. Also, I didn’t want people to taunt me with ‘Hero ban gaya tu’ (You have become a hero). So when Punchnama happened and the trailer was released, I showed it to my housemates for the first time. They were all happy to see one of us be there at least,” Kartik added.

Kartik also talked about how despite being an outsider, he was allowed to succeed in the field, but at first, he was hesitant to take that risk., “I came from Gwalior and had never stayed alone. I was moving to Mumbai forever, so I was scared. Also, I was entering the industry for the first time. My mother thought I was going to Mumbai to study and live in a hostel. I was worried about not getting work and had heard unpleasant stories about Bollywood at that time."

Kartik last appeared in Chandu Champion, a film directed by Kabir Khan, for which he received critical acclaim for his performance.
