Never before has Bollywood come out openly and strongly in support of political parties. With a strong Modi wave sweeping across the nation, Bollywood too has reacted strongly. While you have the powerful Khandaan (Salman Khan and Salim Khan), Vivek Oberoi, Madhur Bhandarkar Anupam Kher, Ashok Pandit and many others supporting the BJP, others like Hansal Mehta, Vishal Dadlani, Anubhav Sinha have chosen to express their solidarity with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Yesterday, in a show of strength a host of celebs braving the hot summer sun, took out a morcha in the streets of Mumbai. Those present included Raghu Ram, Vidya Malavde, Ranvir Shorey, Raj Zutshi, Anubhav Sinha, Tejaswini Kolhapure. They posed with hoardings that read, 'I am AAM Aadmi.' We met and spoke to two prominent faces of them later and quizzed them on the reason behind their strong support for AAP. Arvind is not a flip flop artist - Ranvir Shorey Why did you join AAP? What made me join AAP is the utter disillusionment that the political system was causing. In AAP, I saw a ray of hope with the Aam Aadmi Party coming together and I am hoping that the ray of hope will soon rise and shine and we can get the country moving again. Is secularism in danger? Secularism debate is caused by two parties for political benefits, one for and one against. So it is best to keep it on the back burner. I don’t think the secular fabric of the nation is anyway in danger, no matter who comes into power. Also, it is also high time that public saw through this game which is being played by keeping people poor, uneducated and harvesting their votes and then embezzling taxpayer’s money. You need to see through this and vote for a party which stands for real issues, real people and AAP. Is Arvind reliable and trustworthy? I don’t think Arvind is a flip flop artist. In Delhi, he didn’t have a majority government so he resigned. Top issues to be addressed? Corruption and reforms in the country. Arvind can fulfill the needs of the common man - Anubhav Sinha Why did you choose AAP? I identify with the leader of the AAP that is Arvind Kejriwal. For the first time we have a leader who is saying don’t vote for me, vote for yourself. Here’s a man who is saying if I win, you win, if I lose you lose. One man who has been talking about cleaning up corruption from this country and making the country a better place to live in. What's special about Arvind? There are others politicians whose speeches resemble a standup comedy act these days. The way they degrade others without any rhyme and reason is being called as a speech today. In older times, real speeches used to happen. But today it’s only about cracking jokes. What about talking about the real issues that are plaguing our nation. They have no care or concern for that. If their speech lasts for 2 hours, 1 hr 55 min will be utilized for bad mouthing others. But Arvind is such a leader who talks about fulfilling the needs of a common man. What we need in life. Is someone who will take care of our daily problems and issues. Anna has distanced himself from Arvind. What's your take? I have been a follower of Arvind Kejriwal since the day he participated in Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption movement. From then I have been observing him keenly. And then when he decided to separate and float a political party, I agreed with his thinking because I knew that Anna started the movement and there was a prime need of giving that movement a logical political end and that is where Arvind came. So I agree with everything that he said. Can you guarantee that Arvind will be a trustworthy leader? There is no guarantee of anything. But yes you do things with the right intention and you hope whatever you do in good faith will be rewarded positively. And we are also trying. Is Modi a danger to secularism of India? It cannot be answered in a hurry. You are talking about an individual and me making a comment on his entire lifelong character in a particular area which is already a suspect. It needs to be debated in detail.
