After setting the cash registers ringing in India, Chennai Express is now creating waves in Pakistan. Despite being released only in eight screens in Karachi, the movie has been drawing audience in hordes and has managed to collect a mammoth 40 million rupees since its Eid release.
Mohammad Qadri, a spokesman for IMCG which is the largest film distribution company in Pakistan was quoted terming Chennai Express as the biggest box office hit from India and Pakistani people enjoy the movies of Shah Rukh Khan. There were also reports of cinema owners hiking up ticket prices due to the large demand to see the movie.
Suffering from the Indian onslaught are theaters screening two Pakistani movies Ishq-e-Khudaand Josh, which so far have worn a deserted look. Word is out that the makers of Main Hoon Shahid Afridi are contemplating to postpone the release the date seeing the poor response of other Pakistani movies.
Well, don’t be surprised if you soon see a ban being imposed on Hindi movies by our neighbours…for obvious reasons!!!
