MUMBAI: As 2025 marks India’s 50 years since the declaration of the Emergency in 1975, Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated political drama Emergency is set to bring this pivotal moment in history to the big screen. The makers have announced that the film’s new trailer will release on 6th January 2025, building anticipation for its worldwide release on 17th January 2025.
Starring Kangana Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Emergency delves deep into one of the darkest chapters in India’s history. The film captures the political upheaval, resistance movements, and larger-than-life personalities that defined the Emergency, offering a cinematic exploration of events that changed the nation forever.
Sharing the announcement on social media, the makers wrote, “50 years since India’s darkest hour—The Emergency. Unveil the untold story of India’s most powerful woman and the incident that changed the nation forever.

Directed by Kangana Ranaut herself, Emergency boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film is backed by meticulous production design and authenticity, recreating the era with an unmatched level of detail.
