Curtains of Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai to go up on 24 September

The curtains of the 4th edition of the Jagran Film Festival will go up on 24 September (2013) at the Fun Republic multiplex in Andheri. The festival travelled through 15 cities across 7 states before reaching its concluding stage-Mumbai. Conceptualized to bring world-class cinema to its intended audience, the Film Festival has now become bigger and better. This year the festival is ready to present an exciting line up of films in various genres from every corner of the world. As a matter of fact, some of the international films that are going to be screened at the festival, have not been shown in Asia earlier. The festival will feature films under seven sections: World Panorama, Indian Showcase (in competition), Jagran Shorts (International and National in Competition), and Jagran Classics - Top 20 films of Indian Cinema, Country Focus (South Korea), Homage to Rituparno Ghosh and Berlinale Shorts Best short films from Belinale Film Festival Shorts. The festival will open with the Israeli film Water under the World Panorama section. Under this category more than 20 films of various international languages would be showcased. The fest is providing a medium to directors from countries like Romania, Ukraine, Algeria, Macedonia, Armenia, Lithuania, and many more to showcase their talent to the Indian audience and compete with the international best. The Indian Showcase, that is a competitive section, will feature films made in various Indian regional languages like Punjabi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi, Bengali and many more while Jagran Classics, as the name suggests, would feature some of yesteryears’ classics of the Indian Cinema. Under the Jagran Shorts section (a competitive section for short films) is the category Country focus, an eclectic mix of contemporary Korean Cinema will be screened. The Jagran film festival has been synonymous with broadened imagination and empowerment. Apart from showcasing films from Indian and international cinema, Master Class has been made an integral part of the festival where an eminent filmmaker will take one through the journey of film making. Meanwhile, the festival has announced the jury members for the Indian Showcase section that include noted filmmaker Basu Chatterjee, renowned actress, film director and producer Aditi Ninad Deshpande, Raamachandraah, one of the best known Cinematographers of India, renowned film editor Suresh Pai and Feroz Abbas Khan, the current commander-in-chief of Indian theatre. The festival will conclude on 29 September (2013).
