MUMBAI: Mumbai, 13th June 2024 : The minions are back and ready to cause more mayhem with Gru and his family! Directed by Chris Renaud and Patrick Delage, Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery) brings a Chris Melandari and Illumination production, Despicable Me 4 to the big screen coming in hot this July! The Despicable Me franchise returns with another fan favourite, starring Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier and Pierre Coffin as returning characters. Along with the fan favourites, the film introduces the newest member of the family, Gru Junior, his son, who joins the family on their latest adventure! In addition, the upcoming release brings to the cast Sofia Vergara as Valentina, Joey King as Poppy, Madison Polan as Agnes and Will Ferell as Maxime Le Mal. The film follows Gru and Lucy with their children, Margo, Edith and Agnes along with the Minions as they are forced to flee their home to escape supervillain, Maxime Le Mal.
On returning as ‘Gru’ in the upcoming release, Steve Carrell shares his excitement about playing the anti-hero, “ From day one, Gru has been an absolute delight to play ,” Carell adds “ When we first meet him, he’s an evil, villainous criminal mastermind. But soon, we come to see that he also has an enormous heart, and a great capacity to love. He’s sort of a villain, kind of a hero. But mostly, he’s a husband and a father. I think that it’s fun to watch a character fight against the inevitability of their own goodness. ”
With his family at risk and dealing with the challenges that come with Gru Jr. and the new, advanced Mega Minions in action, Steve Carell states, “Gru has his hands full, as usual”, He further explains, “He’s still the same guy, but the emotional stakes become increasingly higher for him. It’s always rewarding to see a character grow, and Gru is no exception.”
