MUMBAI: Ankita Lokhande is one of the most popular film and television actresses. She has a huge fan following.
The actress, who is an avid social media user, was the first choice for Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Happy New Year’ but the role was later played by Deepika Padukone. Not only this, but she was also approached for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’. But the actress rejected all the films back then. In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, Ankita revealed the reason behind rejecting the films. She said that she didn’t take up ‘Happy New Year’ because of Sushant Singh Rajput. The duo was dating back then. She also went on to say that she had met SRK and he had assured her to give the best debut. She said that she wanted well for Sushant’s career.
The actress said that she was trying to build a man and she did that, and she has no regrets about rejecting the offers. She further also revealed that she rejected Bhansali’s film because she wanted to get married to Sushant. In the interview, Ankita also said that she once got a call from Varun Dhawan too for ‘Badlapur’ but she refused to do the film. Later, Ankita went on to make her big Bollywood debut with ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ which starred Kangana Ranaut. She was also seen in 'Baaghi 3'. She is yet to sign her next film. Since Sushant’s untimely demise, Ankita has been supporting his family.
