Ever wondered how a non-Hindi speaking Prabhu Dheva directs in Bollywood? We have the answer

Prabhu Dheva
It’s no secret that Prabhu Dheva is not very fluent in Hindi and prefers to communicate in his mother tongue- Tamil. Ever wondered then how this non-Hindi speaking director manages to direct Bollywood movies and that too with top-notch stars? Well, here is the secret revealed to us by a little birdie who acts as an extra in R…Rajkumar. The birdie tells us that Prabhu Dheva comes to the set with three assistant directors in tow. One of them is assigned the onerous task of translating each and every word of Tamil spoken by Prabhu Dheva into Hindi. The same assistant also translates Hindi back into Tamil for Prabhu’s benefit. Now it’s logical to think that this cumbersome task of back and forth translation makes life difficult for actors on the set. But our birdie begs to differ. He says, “Prabhu Sir is one of the most amazing directors that an actor will ever get to work with. His eye for precision is unmatchable. I remember a shot in which I was wearing a cap but removed it later on for the next shot when an Assistant Director asked me to. In spite of me being just an extra, Prabhu Sir spotted me standing without a cap. He immediately walked up to me and scolded me for removing my cap. Then he made me sit and understand why the cap is important to the scene and how its removal will impede the continuity of the shot.” Well, we really got to say that along with nimble feet; Prabhu Dheva has sharp eyes too to spot errors. No wonder, he features on the directorial wish list of every Bollywood actor these days.
