Exclusive! Deven Bhojani on Shahrukh Khan starrer Dunki, “it’s like a dream come true.”

MUMBAI :Deven Bhojani is a veteran actor. He has been in the entertainment industry for more than three decades and worked in TV serials, movies, and web series. Bhojani has many interesting films lined up and one of them is Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.

Telly Chakkar recently interacted with  Deven Bhojani where he spoke about Dunki, OTT vs theatre debate, and more…

You will be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. So, can you give us some details about the project or the shooting schedules?

I don’t know whether I am allowed to speak about it or not. But, I can say that I shot a few scenes in Budapest, Hungary, and a few in Mumbai. I have an important role, and it has been wonderful working with Rajkumar Hirani; it’s like a dream come true. It’s been great working with Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu as well.

Being a veteran actor, what’s your take on the debate about OTT taking over theatres?

There’s a phase for everything like earlier radio was the only source of entertainment, then TV came, later it was Doordarshan, and then private channels came, and now it’s OTT. I feel mainly the youngsters watch content on OTT. They have access to watch a show whenever they want to. They sometimes watch one or two episodes, sometimes they binge watch the whole series, and sometimes they might not watch anything for a few days. But, of course, theater has a different experience and has its plus points. However, the minus point there is that if you go to watch a movie and eat popcorn and samosas during the interval, in that same amount you will get a whole year subscription of an OTT platform. So, yes, OTT is giving a tough competition.

Your performance as Gattu in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby is still remembered. Can we expect a season 2 of the show?

There are no talks about season 2 right now. But, all the actors of Baa Bahoo Aur Baby are connected with each other. We might not meet personally but we try to stay in touch through messages and phone calls, and try to meet once in a year or two years.

Deven Bhojani will next be seen in Gujarati web series Yamraj Calling season 2 which will premiere on Shemaroo Me on 14th November 2022.
