MUMBAI : Recently, Gauhar Khan revealed that if her first movie, Rocket Singh, had been released today, she would have become a superstar. In a recent interview with the popular news portal, Gauhar shared further. She mentioned Rishi Kapoor as well and remembered how the late star complimented her and even referred to her as the 2009 film's "best thing."
She also praised the film, the actors, the script, and how much ahead of its time it was in the latest interview. Gauhar claims that the film was released during a period when the industry was unprepared for a film of that nature.

She said that Rocket Singh was a straightforward movie that, on paper, had a lot of potential and should have won every award. She also remembers receiving one of the two awards for which she had been nominated.
Rocket Singh, a YRF movie starring Ranbir Kapoor did not receive the positive response it deserved. Gauhar revealed to the YouTube channel, "I think the times have changed. If Rocket Singh had to release today, if it had been released today, I would probably have been the next superstar to hit the market. But I also believe that everything happens for the best. If I had not debuted with Rocket Singh, I would not be the actor I am today. I was exposed right at the beginning to a director like Shimit Amin, and the production house YRF treated me really well. Jaideep Sahni helped me recognise and realise the actor I am. He told me not to change nor to be after who I co-star with, but focus on the instincts of an actor (sic.)”
