Surveen Chawla's bold avatar may be helping Hate Story 2 garner huge eyeballs but the actress herself doesn't see her bold act in Hate Story 2 as earth shattering. In fact, it's not a big deal for Surveen who prefers to look at boldness in a different light.
"In the Indian scenario, bold is equated with skin show. Bold for me is a state of being. I see it as a trait and condition of life where you are bold enough to pull off something, bold enough to address something. Bold is a courageous frame of mind. Somebody who is mentally bold to play a strong power packed character," says Surveen.
Surveen chooses to also highlight the Indian mind's hypocrisy in terms of boldness vis-a-vis Hollywood. "If this is considered bold, then why aren't Hollywood films not considered bold.
We don’t remember Kate Winslet just for her nude scene from Titanic. That was just a highlight of it .There was much more to the film than the nude scene. Similarly, in Hate Story 2 you will find a gamut of emotions at play," asserts Surveen.
For years, whenever an actress has exposed on screen, the act has unmistakably been termed bold. Ask Surveen on what she thinks about equating shedding clothes with boldness, Surveen says, "Shedding clothes is a bold act not boldness. Bold is an act. I am bold outright and upfront. This is me. As far as shedding clothes is concerned, I don’t have any inhibitions. One has to dive into a pool wearing a swimsuit. It can be a one-piece or a two piece. I think normally when we go to Goa, we wear a swimsuit. So what's the big deal?"
Hate Story 2 opens in theaters on 18th July.
