I haven't read 2 States - Arjun Kapoor

Now baffling as it may seem, the male protagonist of 2 States Arjun Kapoor, hasn't read Chetan Bhagat's popular novel by the same name on which the film is based. When we asked him the reason behind the same, Arjun said, "I am not a voracious reader. While I was doing Ishaqzaade, I received a call from Karan (Johar). When I met him, he handed me the screenplay and I was hooked on to it because I immediately related to the character of Kris Malhotra." But then wasn't he ever tempted to read the book after signing the film? Negating this thought, Arjun said, “When I met my director Abhishek Varman, I told him that I had not read the book. He then encouraged me not to read the book as he felt I could bring my own unique interpretation to the character. He also said that if I go wrong in my interpretation, he would correct me. So that's the reason I haven't read the book till now." Well, it remains to be see if Arjun's own interpretation without the bookish reference will impress the audience.
