The trend of biopics have not just caught the fancy of our directors but also that of our actors. Sharman Joshi who will soon be seen alongside Rekha in Super Nani is keen on doing a biopic. And it's not the Indian biopics that germinated a thought in his mind. Instead it's Leonardo Di Caprio's The Wolf of Wall Street that inspired him. Says Sharman, "A dream role right now would be a biopic. Something similar to what Leonardo Di Caprio did in Wolf of Wall Street. I absolutely loved it and would want to try out something similar. May be a biopic on the life of big bull Harshad Mehta would be apt."
Sharman who has always drawn praise from critics for his acting is still searching for that elusive solo blockbuster hit of his career. Three of the biggest hits of his career, 3 Idiots and Rang De Basanti and Golmaal have been multi-starrers. Ask him if he needs the presence of a superstar like Aamir Khan to deliver a hit, Sharman says, "Well, I think may be. If you are saying so, it could be true. I haven't thought about it."
Though the actor's last offerings didn't do wonders at the box-office, the failures haven't dented him. "When a film doesn't do well, you sit back and analyse and try and take learnings from it and move on. Yes, the last two films in mine didn't do too well because may be we couldn't translate the thoughts on paper effectively on screen. But I have take a few learnings from them and moved on and I am extremely upbeat about Super Nani."
Though Super Nani is a women-centric movie, it's his central character and plot that motivated him to take up this role. "I play a pivotal role in the movie and the story is a winner here. It was also a great honour to act alongside a legend like Rekha."
Super Nani will open in India on 31 October.
