MUMBAI: The Bollywood industry consists of many celebs who have switched from their original name. The public is not aware of their real names. For instance, we did not know that Shilpa Shetty changed her name from Ashwini Shetty before entering films? The stars have made changes in their own names for multiple reasons. Some celebs changed the spelling of their names and/or surnames due to numerology or astrology. While it is all about a matter of faith, for many celebs these decisions have proved to be worthwhile.

From the Dream Girl fame Ayushmann Khurrana to Shilpa Shetty who is currently flashing in the news as she is involved in her husband's Raj Kundra's pornography case, the actors have often talked about the reasons why they decided to change their names or the spelling of their names.

Her mother Sunanda Shetty, also an astrologer, who decided to rename her as Shilpa in the 90s because it carried better prospects and vibes for her daughter according to numerology. Shilpa’s legal documents such as her passport and education certificates, carry the name Ashwini on them but she is known as Shilpa on-screen and more. Isn't it something new to be known?

Ayushmann Khurrana

This was revealed in interaction with Neha Dhupia on her chat show No Filter Neha Ayushmann Khurrana shared the real reason behind the change in spelling of his old surname and name. The actor explained that his first and last name was changed by his astrologer father for his name to be numerically correct. 

Rajkummar Rao 

The Kai Po Che popular face Rajkumar Yadav in 2013 changed it to Rajkummar Rao due to numerological reasons. As per the media report, he shared, "My mother asked me to add the extra ‘m’ in my name. As for my surname change, Rao and Yadav have the same meaning in Haryana. I felt it was better to make the change now before it gets too late since I have a lot of big banner films coming up." (pic)

Ajay Devgn

The popular star changed his surname's spelling on the insistence of his family. Ajay was asked by his mother to change the spelling from Devgan to Devgn for his better health reasons. (pic)

Tusshar Kapoor 

Tusshar Kapoor changes his name's spelling from Tushar to Tusshar as per the suggestion given by the astrologer. His son Laksshya Kapoor also has an unusual spelling that includes an extra 's'. (pic)
