MUMBAI: Actor Junaid Khan has been shaped into the man he is today because of A mix of the upbringing his mother Reena Dutta gave him and the lessons he received from his famous father Aamir Khan.

Recently being on screen in the Netflix drama Maharaj, Junaid stated that he has seen how Aamir grows a lot from his setbacks.

Regarding his father, whose previous two films, Laal Singh Chaddha and Thugs of Hindostan, did not perform well at the box office, Junaid said, "He has been doing this for 40 years now, he has seen everything."

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Junaid said that his father has “the best solution for everything” related to films. “There is a lot to learn from just how he conducts himself. Failures affect him, but he takes the time to process it and then move on to learning from it. He will figure out what went wrong and proceed from there, so that’s his process which is probably the best way to go about it,” he said.

When asked how big of an influence his mother Reena has had on him, the 31-year-old said that she is the one who has “shaped” his personality, as growing up, Aamir was mostly busy with his professional commitments and wasn’t around much. Aamir married Reena in 1986 and has two children with her, Junaid and daughter Ira. The couple divorced in 2002.

“My mother has a huge impact on my life. She is the one who brought me up. Papa is a very loving father, but he would be busy a lot in life. So, the one person who has shaped me the most as a person is my mother. But if there is a difficulty that I am going through, I can call anyone, maa, papa, Ira. They are always one phone call away. Even papa, who is incredibly busy, if you need to get a hold of him, it will not take you more than a couple of minutes, and if you need it, he will have all the time in the world you want. I have a supportive, open family. So whenever you want to talk, it is always open for discussion,” Junaid added.

Aamir Khan expressed regret in 2022 during his appearance on an episode of Koffee with Karan, saying that he was too preoccupied with his acting career to spend enough time with his family, especially his children.

He had said, “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work. I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children. Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”

Aamir took a break following Laal Singh Chaddha's failure, but he will return with Sitaare Zameen Par, which is set for release in December.
