MUMBAI: Jyoti Deshpande's journey from giving tuition to finance her education to becoming a successful film producer and businesswoman is nothing short of inspirational. Despite facing challenges like battling pneumonia as an infant and contracting polio as a toddler, Deshpande remained resilient and determined to succeed.
After completing her education, including an MBA from Mumbai University's SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Deshpande joined Reliance Industries in 2018, where she currently serves as the CEO of Viacom 18 and President of Reliance Industries Limited's Media and Content Business.
In her role, Deshpande has produced several successful films, including "Desi Boyz," "Angrezi Medium," "Bloody Daddy," "Bhediya," and more. She has also backed critically acclaimed films like Aamir Khan's "Laal Singh Chaddha."
In the past year alone, Deshpande has produced three films that grossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide. These include Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's "Dunki," Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan's "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke," and Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya."
Additionally, Deshpande's production "Article 370," starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani, has received praise from audiences and had a successful opening. Her upcoming projects include Varun Dhawan's "Baby John" and Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again."
Despite her success, Jyoti Deshpande remains grounded and continues to inspire others with her journey of resilience, determination, and success in the film industry.
