Kate Spade depressed over separation, business problems: Police
Fashion designer Kate Spade, who was found dead in her apartment, was depressed over her business problems and separation from her husband, which was causing her to drink a lot, said police officials.
Law enforcement sources told tmz.com that Kate was alone in her apartment when she tied a scarf around her neck, attached it to her closet door knob and hanged herself in her bedroom.
According to tmz.com, her husband, Andy Spade, was not in the apartment. The couple had separated and he was living in a nearby building.
The sources say Andy told police that he was separated from Kate for a couple of months. Andy added that he was at his apartment when he learned that Kate had committed suicide.
Andy told the cops that Kate "was drinking a lot," and was depressed by business problems and their separation. As TMZ.com reported, he wanted a divorce but she did not.
It puts her suicide note in a somewhat different light. In the note, she tells her 13-year-old daughter it was not her fault, adding, "Ask Daddy!" suggesting that she blames Andy.
Sandra Bullock almost quit acting over sexism
Sandra Bullock is a household name in Hollywood, yet on-screen character said that she pondered leaving the business because of sexism
Speaking to USA Today, the Ocean's 8 star said that she went to the realization that she "would not like to be a piece of that existence where there was that experience." Bullock added that she went into acting — and the world — under the feeling that there was "no disparity."
The star spoke to USA Today and clarified that as she explored Hollywood, she went to the acknowledgment that she was having diverse experiences since she's a woman. Despite the fact that she didn't give any specific examples, Bullock said that she had a "wake-up moment" and thought, "Oh, my God, I'm being treated this way because I have a vagina."
She also added that the feeling insufficient made her reconsider her career choice.
"I was like, 'Wow, maybe I need to step out of here. Maybe I need to do something else for a living,'" she said. "And that was in the middle of when I was getting work — I didn't want to be a part of that world where there was that experience."
The actress said that her mother raised her to believe that she could be successful and independent. But as she landed more roles, she began to understand that there were barriers.
"I literally went out into the world thinking there was no disparity, that everyone was equal, and I can do whatever a man can do," she said.
"It was hard for me because I walked with blinders on through life and got to where I [felt] like I was less than because I was a woman. And that was a hard pill to swallow. I had a lot of sadness from that," she added.
Bullock's remarks about the Hollywood’s gender disparities come at the time in which equal pay and opportunities play an important role for women.

Stranger Things star David Harbour has opened up about his battle with bipolar disorder, saying that he was once committed to an asylum.
The actor said that his battle with mental illness on WTF podcast, explaining he was diagnosed bipolar when he was 25, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Harbour said, "Here's the interesting thing, which I have actually never truly spoken about publicly. I actually was in this Catholicism thing... and I was sober for, like, a year and a half... and I actually did have a manic episode and I was diagnosed as bipolar."
"I really had a bit of a break where I thought I was in connection to some sort of God that I wasn't really in connection to. It was like I had all the answers suddenly," he added.
His parents subsequently committed him and he said that the experience was not what he thought it was going to be.
"I have one thing to say about the mental asylum. I've romanticised two things in my life and both have fallen short. One is being in a mental asylum. Really, really not as fun as you think it is. You do have a romantic idea of it... and it just ends up being sad and smells like s**t."
"Have you ever been to a mental asylum?" he asked.
"The only thing that defines a crazy person and a normal person - because you can seem very normal as a crazy person - is they are convinced they are sane. Crazy people are convinced they are sane. It's incredible."
Harbour is now medicated and claims he has figured out what triggers his bipolar episodes - and knows what he needs to do to cope with them.
